Weekend Immersion: Creative Hand Balancing

About this Immersion

So you’ve been working hard at your handstands and are wondering if you might have what you need to put it all together in an act? This workshop is designed to help you continue to start, or continue to develop, a handstand act just for you. You will meet other handbalancers, play, experiment, and perform for and with them. Learn something about yourself and other like minded individuals that will help you on your path to making a unique and amazing handstand act, either for yourself or for your professional circus career. (This workshop partners with the “Handbalancing” workshop focused on skill building that will take place in November.)

Friday 5:30 – 8:30 pm
Saturday 10:00 am – 1:00 pm & 2:00 – 4:00 pm
Sunday 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

This workshop is intended for intermediate to advanced level students who are comfortable being inverted in a variety of positions, with a regular training practice that includes being able to kick into and hold a 30 sec to 1 min handstand (any shape), and be able to do at least one type of press handstand entry (split, straddle, tuck, pike). Students will receive a brief questionnaire about their current skill level and what there interests are in making an act in order to confirm their participation in the workshop.

Fleeky Flanco has been performing and teaching hand balancing all over the world, from the radioactive ruins of Washington DC to the art apocalypse currently imploding in San Francisco. Fleeky has increasingly become known as the “Thomas Mann” of frontbending (klishnig) for a unique embodiment of modern and classical frontbending styles, with teachers that include Master Coach Xia Ke Min, National Treasure of Mongolia contortionist Serchma Byambaa, and Acrobatic Visionary Dominik (The Swiss) Wyss. Fleeky is a co-founder of Circus Automatic and of the Royal Russian Kung fu Circus Training Academy of Heaven Mountain. Fleeky has performed in numerous European venues including KrystallPalast, GOP and Wintergarten, and has produced and directed circus in San Francisco, Chicago and beyond, and is happy to call Vermont home.
